Book Synopsis Exploring Jewish Ethics by : Eugene B. Borowitz

Book excerpt: The essay "Buddhist and Jewish Ethics: A Response to Masao Abe" (pp. 464-473) relates to a paper by Abe due to be published in 1990 which explains his Buddhist understanding of ultimate reality. Though his primary discussion is with Christianity, he also seeks to understand how Jewish thinkers have come to terms with the Holocaust, hoping in this way to initiate Buddhist-Jewish dialogue. Borowitz explains Jewish philosophical and theological responses to the Holocaust.
