Book Synopsis Poetry Behind Prison Bars ~ Set Yourself Free ~ Printed in Black and White by : Janet M. Viera

Book excerpt: Janet is a co-author of this amazing book, Poetry Behind Prison Bars. The book embraces revitalizing poems by Janet's father, as well as herself. Inspired by the wisdom and blessed with the writing gift, Janet continued the legacy of her father and her Abuela. She came into the world of writing and poetry which is also showcased in her book. Another great inspiration behind Janet's writing are historic poets such as Sonia Sanchez, Miguel PiƱero, and Maya Angelou just to name a few. Her father's period in jail and then the loss of her father while in jail, worked as a turning point in Janet's life. She experienced grief, depression, anxiety, and being a child who was never shown how to cope with her closest person's death. She utilized poetry to manage her emotions, and to heal herself after the loss of her dad, first to jail then to cancer. Although he never seen another free day while on earth, he always repeated the words to her, "It's not where I am, it's where my thoughts take us." Janet kept those words close to heart and decided she wants to use all of their poetry as a source of bringing peace, love, prayers and healing to the everyday life of people, as well as continuous healing to herself. With time, she spread her wings and started embracing life with gratitude, positivity, prayers, and meditation.? Her expression of emotions and way of perceiving life may be life-saving for many people. Her work is accredited by over 20+ years of healthcare experience caring for individuals ranging from children, to the disabled, to the old souls further proving that healing and bringing light to others has always been her purpose.? In addition to being the source of her creativity, her love of nature, meditation, praying, practicing gratitude are her strengths and resiliency is her super power. Her deepest thoughts come while sitting on her grandparents porch swing, inspired by the memories in the house she grew up in, she brings heart-touching pieces of poetry to paper.
