Book excerpt: The Gazette provides those interested in the early history of what is now the province of Ontario with a unique source of information about its early political, social, and economic development. The purpose of this report is to acquaint readers with the history of the Gazette and its place in the development of Upper Canada. As well, it provides brief profiles of eleven of the paper's printers and describes their relationship with their government employers.
