Book excerpt: Originally from Washington, D.C., Jason is a typical high school student now living in Madison, Wisconsin, with his mother, a professor at the university. When this trip seems to have no ramifications, Jason begs his mom to go on a class trip. Destination: Washington, D.C. Although he senses someone has been tailing him in Madison, he ignores the warning and convinces his mom to let him go. As Jason tours the capital city with his classmates, he must come to terms with the fact he is indeed being tailed there as well. As the story culminates in a chase through Colonial Williamsburg, Jason realizes he has been betrayed by the one person who was supposed to protect him.
