Book excerpt: This review aims to introduce the chemistry of polyurethanes, and to examine the different techniques which may be used to analyse these polymers. The characterisation of polyurethane starting materials, cure reaction, polymer structures and molecular c099, and additives, and their relationship to the final properties of the polymer are all outlined. An additional indexed section containing several hundred abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database gives useful references for further reading.
