Book excerpt: James (Timothy) McClintock of County Antrim, Ireland and his wife, Eleanor Hamilton, sailed from Larne, Ireland to the Colonies in 1772. They landed in the port at Charleston, South Carolina. They were a part of the group of Presbyterians who settled in the District of Chester on the banks of Rocky Creek, a branch of the Catawba River. They were the parents of five children. Their son, (Rev) Robert McClintock (b.ca1746) in County Antrim, Ireland, emigrated with his parents in 1772. He preached at Rocky Springs, in Laurens Co. and at Concord church in Fairfield Co. He married at the age of 50, Martha (1765-1836) the daughter of John McClintock in 1796. Her mother was Margaret Simpson of Ireland and South Carolina. Includes ten generations of descendants.
