Book excerpt: The hallmark of Technical Physics at the Faculty of Physics is the close connection between research and teaching. Despite the high level of specialisation required for remaining internationally competitive in cutting-edge research, physics at TU Vienna nevertheless covers a remarkably broad range of topics that can be roughly divided into three core areas: the physics of matter, physical technology and fundamental interactions.
