Book excerpt: Hunt continues his search for new deputies to replace the men he is losing Jewels, Elizabeth, Bill, and Langley, join up with the other U.S. Deputy Marshals and head for Oregon. Dodd's cabin is finished, but Dodd appears to be dragging his feet to take advantage of his new home. Hunt sends his new man, Duke, with the men on a mission, unsure of how Duke will perform. Hunt's men are sent far and wide to find killers and thieves while Hunt is left alone to face an angry killer that has come to Denver to single out Hunt for revenge.
