Book excerpt: John Stewart Sr. (1800-1895) was born in the parish of Skipness in Argylshire, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1854 and settled in Elgin County, Ontario. He later immigrated to Elba, Michigan in 1856. He had married Janet Cook in 1829. One grandson, Alexander (1857-1938), married Emma Spears in 1882. Line is traced back to additional generations in Scotland. Other related lines are also given, including one in New York.
