Even an accurate record of all the butterflies to be found in so extensive and varied a territory as San Diego County entails a vast amount of field work at every season of the year, supplemented by ample technical facilities and knowledge. The writer therefore makes no claim of infallibility for the present paper, and presents it merely as the sum of his accumulated data and experience at the present time. The future will doubtless bring about changes and additions, especially when more intensive collecting is done in the eastern and northern parts of the County.
