Book excerpt: This study analyzes the struggle of women against the structures and culture of male power in the trade union movement, taking a combined sociological and feminist perspective. It shows how the cultural practices of masculinity are used to control women. It documents women's challenge to that control and it draws attention to the potential benefits for the movement of their culture of femininity.
