Book excerpt: This research note reviews existing literature on household financial resilience, considers how financial resilience can be measured, presents country-level statistics from published sources and new empirical estimates using microdata from the Household Finance and Consumption Survey and the Luxembourg Wealth Study which allow us to consider how financial resilience varies across households. Finally we explore a range of existing policies and policy options for boosting households' resilience to financial shocks.
