Book excerpt: "History of the Jews in Russia and Poland: From the earliest times until the present day" in three volumes is a historical work which covers the history of the Jewish people in Eastern Europe for about 10 centuries. The work is divided in three parts; first volume covers the period from the earliest Jewish settlements in Eastern Europe until the death of Alexander I (1825); second volume covers the period from the death of Alexander I until the death of Alexander III (1825-1894); and the last volume spans from the accession of Nicholas II until the first couple of decades of 20th century.
