Book Synopsis Integrated Corporate Community Relations by : Jessica Louise Martin

Book excerpt: This journalism master's project includes a professional work component and a research component. The professional work component details the author's experiences working for Best Practices in Corporate Communications and The Public Affairs Group. Both these companies are located in Washington, D.C. and provide information and research for Fortune 500 companies to improve their business. The author's project was to update a 1998 report about corporate community relations. Field notes and samples of work are included. In the research component the author specifically looks "at how the integration of community relations programs with other corporate programs can be a highly successful way to promote the company's image and initiatives [by examining] three questions: RQ1: How are businesses using integrative techniques in community relations programs to create the most successful businesses? RQ2: Are all of the corporation's activities working toward one corporate mission? RQ3: How are companies measuring the effectiveness of these programs?" (p. 17) This section includes a literature review and interview transcripts.
