Book Synopsis Midwinter Anthology by : Micheal Greenwell

Book excerpt: Welcome to Midwinter Anthology. A collection of short stories, poems and art all offered for free. A small present from us, to you. There is no theme in the anthology, but we hope that you will find herein a harmony. Michael Greenwell offers two stories from different ends of the spectrum. Alone In The Night brings a story of the things that could go bump in the night. The things that stalk the two unfortunate people in the story. In Candy Man Can, he offers the other side of the coin, the view from those who stalk the night. The author of the Aberddu stories, Lilian Surgeson, offers a story from a different view in She Was like the Island. A view from an Island, a place where time slows down, but perhaps a place where time finally offers some closure. `Big Bad' Jon Scholes offers a story from a small toy-store. A story of imagination that might just change the way you look at sweets in Adrenaline and Glucose. A story of hope comes from Alex Patterson. Somewhere, at the end of a journey, there is still much hope to be found, even for those whose journeys were long ago. Read where the journey goes in A Path Less Travelled The artist Michelle Palmer offers us her picture of a pheonix from the flames. A fitting image for midwinter, where the dying world is renewed. Lumde Nopem brings a poem of a boy dreaming of the stories he will one day write, a boy who sat and dreamed in The Boy Under The Stars, and a short story of a man on a search, and an encounter along the way in the aptly names The Search. Two anonymous poetry submissions, one offering us a view of the nightfall, bathed in precious glittering colours, Eventide, and one that offers us a view of midwinter through the eye of the poet in Midwinter. Jenny Oldroyd offers a poem from the heart in Time Enough, a reminder that even as the year turns, there is still time to spend. The final piece, from myself, Cobwebs and Peace tells, in poetry, of a woman at work lace-making, and what she inspires. We hope that you read these stories, and enjoy them. So, without further ado, rest yourselves by the fire, and enjoy this Midwinter Anthology.
