Book excerpt: Abstract: These hearings discuss legislation to establish a coordinated national nutrition monitoring and related research program, and a comprehensive plan for the assessment of the nutritional and dietary status of the U.S. population and the nutritional quality of the U.S. food supply. Testimony is received from several federal government officials, several doctors and researchers from medical schools, and several representatives from associations and organizations with an interest in nutrition and hunger issues.
