Book excerpt: This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Smart Grid and Innovative Frontiers in Telecommunications, SmartGIFT 2020, held in Chicago, USA, in December 2020. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the conference was held virtually.
