Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the conference on Variational Methods: Open Problems, Recent Progress, and Numerical Algorithms. It presents current research in variational methods as applied to nonlinear elliptic PDE, although several articles concern nonlinear PDE that are nonvariational and/or nonelliptic.
