Book excerpt: Losing my son Josh, without a doubt, was the darkest season of my life. There are no words that can adequately express the level of devastation and depth of agony I've suffered. From the very moment we were informed of his death, I knew I was in for the fight of my life. Only by the love, mercy, and grace of a faithful God have I survived. Today I stand amazed at the goodness of God and His gentle kindness to me. In the years since that awful October day when my world came crashing down, learning to face a life without Josh has taken every ounce of grit and determination I possess. Without a doubt, the only reason I'm not dead or in a mental hospital today is quite simple. I have a Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who refuses to let go of my hand. Psalm 118:17 (KJV) says, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." Amen and amen!
